From 2000 to 2018, I was Managing Director, Head of Division (Executive Vice President) Automotive and, in recent years, a member of the Executive Management Committee of JENOPTIK AG.
The Automotive division consisted of the two business units Industrial Metrology and Laser Processing Machines. The sales volume at that time was in the 3-digit million range with just under 900 employees worldwide. The average sales growth per year and the operating profitability (EBIT) were predominantly in the 2-digit percentage range.
Growth was generated both organically and inorganically through national and international joint ventures and company acquisitions. The successful integration of these companies into the existing organisation was one of my essential tasks. For this reason I was active in various supervisory boards of foreign companies of JENOPTIK AG during this period, either as a member or chairman – for example in the USA, China, Korea, India, France and Switzerland.
Before joining JENOPTIK AG, I was employed by a medium-sized manufacturer of measuring systems for the automotive industry and for over 14 years I served in various management positions in the marketing, product management and sales department. During this time, I was involved in a management buy-out of this company from 1997 to 2000 as a long-standing sales manager together with other managers and with private equity partners.
Since I left Jenoptik, I have been working as a freelance management consultant. The focus of my activities is primarily on strategy and sales consulting with the aim of generating profitable and international growth.
